Getting Started
There are a few prerequisites that must be met before an organisation can be issued a Verified Mark Certificate (VMC), which are outlined below.
There’s no need to worry, though – when you choose The ID Security for your VMC, you’ll receive a dedicated Implementation Specialist to help expedite the validation process and guide you every step of the way.
Before you can start using your VMC, you’ll need to:
- Be DMARC Compliant: Specifically, the DMARC record for your domain must be set to either “p=quarantine” or “p=reject”. If you’re unsure about your domain, please seek assistance.
- Have an Officially Registered Logo: VMCs are available for both private organisations and government entities. Government agencies must provide legal documents or government records that grant their logo. Private organisations must have their logo registered with the appropriate intellectual property office in their country.
- Format Your Logo File Correctly: The logo must be square and in SVG image file format.
- Purchase Your VMC: The certificate authority will then validate your organisation and logo.
- Publish a BIMI DNS Record for Your Domain: This informs your email server which image file to display as your logo.
Once these steps are completed, your logo will automatically display in Gmail, Yahoo, and other participating email clients.
